This skin-rejuvenation technique is non-invasive and scientifically proven to produce new collagen that helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, excessive redness, large pores, scars and uneven texture. Cutera Laser Genesis gently heats the upper dermis well below the surface of the skin. This stimulates collagen regrowth. More heat is applied to dilated capillaries to minimize redness. Topical anesthetics are not necessary. To achieve the best results, patients will require an average of five treatments. Patients can expect to see subtle and consistent results after each treatment. The overall effect of multiple treatments can be dramatic. The most common side effect is a slight redness that disappears after a few hours of treatment.
What Does it Treat?
Laser Genesis™ is an FDA-approved technology and safely treats a variety of skin conditions. Laser Genesis™ can effectively treat:
- Fine Lines
- Large Pores
- Uneven Skin Texture
- Diffuse Redness
Diffuse redness can be defined as facial redness, such as rosy cheeks. This condition is caused by dilated capillaries, resulting in an appearance of general redness. The most commonly affected areas are the nose, forehead and cheeks. Diffuse redness is also associated with a condition commonly known as rosacea. Laser Genesis™ is very effective for treating diffuse redness.
How Does it Work?
Laser Genesis™ works by gently heating the upper dermis well below the skin’s surface. Compared to a treatment such as Intense Pulsed Light™ (IPL), Laser Genesis™ uses a 1064nm ND:YAG wavelength – which targets deeper into the skin, effectively stimulating collagen production. The end result is smoother, healthier looking skin with marked improvement in texture, fine lines and large pores. Also, additional heat is generated in dilated capillaries that help to reduce redness.
Who is a Candidate?
Laser Genesis™ treatments are safe and effective for all skin types. Even during the summer months, patients that are tan can safely have Laser Genesis™ treatments without the risk of complications.
What Can I Expect During Treatment?
The most common areas treated with Laser Genesis™ are the face and neck. Generally, each patient can expect the following:
- Treatments are performed in the privacy and comfort of Aura Skin Spa, by a physician, registered nurse or nurse practitioner.
- Safety eyeglasses are worn to protect the physician or nurse practitioner and the patient’s eyes from the laser light during the procedure.
- No gel or topical anesthetic cream is required.
- The laser hand-piece is moved back and forth about ½ inch above the skin.
- A gentle warming sensation is felt. Patients often describe the treatment as relaxing and therapeutic.
- This is repeated over the entire face or the surface-area that is being treated.
- The procedure takes approximately 30-45 minutes for the full face. The treatment can be shorter or longer depending on the area or areas being treated.
The treated area usually becomes pink and usually lasts only a few minutes to a few hours. Patients can immediately return to their normal activities.
Is it Painful?
There is no discomfort with Laser Genesis™ treatments. In fact, no anesthetic cream is required prior to the treatment. A slight warming sensation is felt during the treatment and described as relaxing and therapeutic. Some patients often fall asleep during the procedure.
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
The results from Laser Genesis™ treatments are subtle, however, consistent with each subsequent treatment. On average, a series of three to five treatments are recommended to achieve optimal results. Every patient’s needs and condition vary and Aura offers free consultations that help determine the number of treatments necessary for each patient. Comfortably treat excessive redness, enlarged pores, uneven skin texture, and fine lines and wrinkles! Laser Genesis skin therapy is an innovative, technologically advanced way to promote vibrant and healthy-looking skin in men and women.
The Laser Genesis Difference
The Laser Genesis utilizes laser technology to safely and effectively treat uneven skin texture, scars, large pores and diffuse redness. Laser Genesis is a comfortable, non-ablative, non-invasive form of skin therapy. You can expect to see subtle yet consistent results after each treatment, without unwanted side effects such as bruising or excessive skin irritation. Your therapy can be performed in a relaxed manner without the use of general or local anesthesia, gel or cream.
How Does Laser Genesis Work?
By gently heating the upper dermis well below your skin’s surface, Laser Genesis warms the miniature-swollen vessels that create diffuse redness, which are then absorbed by the body over the period of a few weeks. The procedure also stimulates collagen renewal, resulting in tighter pores, smoother skin and the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles. This method of promoting collagen renewal also smoothes, flattens and removes the red discoloration of scars.
What is Diffuse Redness?
Diffuse redness is a general appearance of facial redness, such as rosy or blotchy cheeks. Individuals with diffuse redness may also flush or blush easily. This condition is caused by dilated capillaries, resulting in an appearance of general redness and may be accompanied by broken capillaries or facial veins. The most commonly affected areas are the nose, forehead and cheeks. Diffuse redness is often associated with a condition called rosacea and it can be hereditary. Laser Genesis therapy will help your appearance by gently treating and drastically reducing the appearance of this condition.
What Areas Can Be Treated?
Laser Genesis clients report excellent results over their entire faces, necks, and décolletage. Additionally, Laser Genesis is very adept at diminishing the appearance of scars on all parts of the body, including acne and surgical scarring.
What Does Laser Genesis Feel Like?
Clients often describe the treatment as relaxing and therapeutic. You will experience a gentle warming of your skin’s surface during the procedure as the laser hand piece is moved back and forth about 1/2 inch above your skin, similar to airbrushing. You can expect to immediately return to normal activities, utilizing sunscreen if participating in outdoor activities.
What Are the Possible Side Effects?
Although most clients report few if any side effects, the most common is a slight redness that fades shortly after the treatment.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Immediately following the treatment, the spots may start to darken. You may also notice a slight reddening of the surrounding skin. This redness typically subsides within a few minutes to a couple of hours. Over the course of the next one to three weeks, darkened spots will flake off as your skin naturally exfoliates. These dark flakes are from sun damage that was beneath your skin that our laser destroyed and brought to the surface. We will discuss all risks and benefits with you thoroughly at your consultation.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
The treatment results are cumulative. On average, clients require four to six treatments in order to achieve the best results.
When Will I See Results?
Most clients notice immediate improvement in pore size and the texture of their skin. Redness and fine lines are considerably less noticeable with future treatments.
How Long Do Results Last?
While treatment with Laser Genesis is the most permanent option available, the factors that contribute to aging and diffuse redness will eventually create new swollen capillaries and collagen destruction. Maintenance recommendations will be based on your individual symptoms and lifestyle.
