The muscles in our face range in size and strength, so it takes different amounts of BOTOX® to treat each area (injection site). We measure and price by the unit. Check out our cheat sheet to see how many units you’ll likely need. 

Avoid taking aspirin, ibuprofen, or fish oil for 2 weeks prior to your treatment, as these will increase your risk of bleeding or bruising. Taking Arnica tablets for a week before and after your treatment can help minimize this as well. 

The frequency of BOTOX® treatments can vary depending on several factors, such as your age, skin type, and the area being treated. In general, the effects of BOTOX® last for three to six months, after which the muscle movement gradually returns and the lines and wrinkles start to reappear.

Keep in mind that over time, the effects of a BOTOX® cosmetic treatment may become more long-lasting with repeated treatments. This is because the treated muscles weaken over time, reducing the severity of the lines and wrinkles.

After receiving BOTOX® injections, it's important to take certain precautions to ensure the best possible results and minimize the risk of complications. Here are some things you should avoid after your Botox® treatment:

Do not rub or massage the treated area: 

Rubbing or massaging the treated area can cause the Botox® to spread to unintended areas, leading to unwanted results.

Do not engage in strenuous activities: 

Avoid any activities that increase blood flow to the face, such as exercising or heavy lifting, for at least 24 hours after your treatment.

Do not consume alcohol: 

Alcohol can increase the risk of bruising and swelling, which can compromise your results.

Do not lie down or bend over: 

Avoid lying down or bending over for at least four hours after your treatment to prevent the Botox® from spreading to other areas.

Avoid strenuous exercise: 

Waiting at least 4 hours for moderate exercise gives the BOTOX® time to settle into place so it doesn't move anywhere it shouldn't. If you perform hot yoga or engage in strenuous exercise (that causes your heart rate to go over 130), it is recommended that you wait 24 hours after your treatment.
